In June this year Mr. McCormick, of The Liverpool Eye Clinic, was part of the organising committee for the annual British Oculoplastic Surgeons Society meeting.
The British Oculoplastic Surgeons Society is an academic society of ophthalmic surgeons, also known as BOPSS, who specialise in oculoplastic,lacrimal, orbital and eye socket surgery. Every year a city in the UK is honored with organising the annual academic meeting and this year it was held in Liverpool for the first time. Mr. Austin McCormick of The Liverpool Eye Clinic along with his colleague at Aintree University Hospital, Mr James Hsuan, organised the meeting, which took place at St. George's Hall over 3 days in June. The meeting was a great success with over 300 delegates from UK, Europe, USA. In addition to leaders in their fields from the UK, three international speakers from New Zealand, USA and Belgium gave keynote lectures. The gala dinner was help in a candle lit Anglican Cathedral, which produced a great response from visitors to the city.
